The Pure Joy of Tourmaline

by | 11 November 2022 | Gemstones

Wearing my green Namibian tourmaline ring makes me feel lifted, empowered and joyful. When I place this ring on my finger, I feel like a superwoman throwing on my cape, ready to face the world and achieve anything my heart desires.

This energy comes straight from the earth, from the magic and power that has taken place over millennia to form this tourmaline that rests on my finger. And the joy that I feel in connecting so deeply with this gem makes me feel safe — safe to be seen as my unique and authentic self. And that is true power.

Discovering Tourmaline

The first time I encountered tourmaline was during my gemmology studies. There was a strong and immediate sense of connection. A life changing connection, like it was meant to be. Since then, I have enjoyed the privilege of finding many special tourmalines, including the two beloved stones that I wear as engagement rings, as well as those I have sourced for my customers.

For many years, there was very little awareness of tourmaline in the world. Tourmaline has often been confused with other gemstones, like ruby, emerald or pink sapphire. But as more and more deposits are being uncovered (such as the high vibrating tourmalines of Namibia and Nigeria) the world is finally awakening to the majesty of tourmaline.

I love that tourmaline is described as the ‘gem of the rainbow’ for the diverse range of colours it can be found in. To me, this description perfectly captures the infinite joyful blessings a tourmaline can bestow on its wearer.

The colour of every tourmaline is completely unique and speaks straight to the heart of whoever the gem is meant for (and will bring whatever they need). Some tourmalines are soft and pastel, like a warm and loving embrace. Others are bright and vibrant, like a powerful burst of energy. And some tourmalines display two colours in the same stone, offering fascinating duality and complexity.

The Magic of Tourmaline

I love the clarity of a tourmaline and its ability to mirror what is in your soul and to show it back to you in such a beautiful and loving way. Tourmaline will clear away any blockages or negative energy, heal your insecurities, ignite your authenticity and unleash pure joy. That is what I feel when I wear my tourmaline jewellery (particularly my green Namibian tourmaline ring). It is as if I am lit from inside and at the same time deeply protected to walk the path I have chosen.

I wonder what it would be like to host a reunion with all of my tourmaline customers. To enable them to share the special gifts that each tourmaline has brought to their lives. Because tourmaline has brought so much to my life — the courage to be authentic; the belief that I can achieve anything I set out to do; a renewed appreciation of uniqueness and diversity; and, of course, pure joy. Joy has always been the fuel that feeds my soul. It is magical, uplifting and incredibly infectious, which is why I believe joy is the key to healing the world.
