Bespoke Jewellery Design

By Natalie Barney

The Bespoke Experience

We love nothing more than to bring a customer’s vision to life through bespoke jewellery design. It is a magical process to connect with someone, to hear their story, and to create something so special and unique.

A bespoke piece is often created during one of the most important junctions in a person’s life, such as an engagement, the birth of a baby, or the loss of a loved one. To us, the process should be simple, collaborative, and joyful, and the customer should feel seen and heard.

Our bespoke jewellery process can be described in three key phases:

1. Listening

The first phase involves listening to the customer tell their story, express their intentions, and share their vision. This can be done in person (in our office in Sydney), or over phone, email, or video call.

We then discuss timing and what the customer would ideally like to spend.

2. Visualising

Visualising a custom piece is a joyful and collaborative process where designer and customer are in creative flow. Design options and details are explored and shared over email. Gorgeous gems are intuitively and expertly sourced and priced, and can be viewed in person in our Sydney office.

3. Manifesting

Working closely with our jeweller, the new piece is carefully brought to life in all of its exquisitely handcrafted detail. The customer is kept informed of its progress until their piece is finally ready for collection or secure delivery.

If you would like to discuss a bespoke piece, or ask a question, it would be our pleasure to assist you. Please complete the contact form and we will be in touch as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get a custom piece made?

This depends on the complexity of the piece, whether it is a new design, and if gemstones are needed to be sourced. As a general rule, please allow 4 to 5 weeks.

A more accurate timeline is provided during the bespoke process, and if there are any delays, you will be promptly notified.

Can you copy a design that I've seen?

Just as we would not appreciate another jeweller breaching copyright to replicate one of our designs, we will not replicate the design of another jeweller.

What is the payment process?

Once the final design has been agreed on, and the gemstones have been selected, an itemised quote (which includes gems, metal, labour, and setting) will be provided.

Upon approval of this quote, full upfront payment will be required for the piece to be made.

Can you reuse the gems and metals from a piece of jewellery I own?

It is such a joy to be able to breathe new life into precious existing pieces, allowing you to cherish them again, and to keep Mother Nature happy by recycling her materials.

We can use loose stones, or reuse the stones set in your existing jewellery to transform them into updated pieces that better reflect your tastes and needs.

When it comes to metals, we can melt yellow gold and platinum to remake a piece in the same metal. Alternatively you can use your metal as a credit towards fresh metal of the same kind, or a different type altogether.

Some customers bring a whole assortment of pieces in different metals, and we first spend time going through them to set aside what can be reused, and what can be put towards a credit.

Do you have a store that I can visit to view your pieces?

We have an office in Sydney where viewings and consultations are available by appointment only.

Do you have some gemstones I can look at?

Once design options have been explored and agreed upon, gorgeous gems are intuitively and expertly sourced, and can be viewed in person in our Sydney office, or remotely by video or email.
