One of the most enjoyable parts of my business is helping couples choose wedding bands. Girls absolutely love the experience, wanting to try on everything, whilst the guys are far less predictable.
Some are almost as excited as their brides-to-be. Others can’t wait to get back to work, their couch, the pub or any of those other man-spots where phrases such as “wedding plans” have never been uttered.
Understanding this, we always try to make the experience fun, not just for the gushing girls, but impatient boys too. And guys, since you don’t get the girl without the wedding band, it’s sometimes easier just to go with the flow.
So, let me answer a few common questions men (and their fiancés) ask about wedding bands…
Well, good quality – after all, you want this one to last a lifetime, right? And affordability – in other words, spend what you can, not what you can’t. However, I also believe that a beautiful cut and simple yet elegant design is very important.
What’s hot right now?
Palladium wedding bands have been popular for a while and this trend shows no sign of abating. Palladium is a modern fashion trend as couples move away from more traditional wedding band options of yellow gold and platinum. Or mix palladium with Rose and Yellow Gold for a fresh personal look.
It’s a precious metal that works for both guys and girls. Women adore its beauty and elegance of palladium, and men definitely appreciate the price tag!
Palladium or platinum?
One precious metal I love working with that’s making a name for itself in wedding bands, especially those for men, is palladium. If you haven’t seen it, this is a white metal with definite visual appeal and a cheaper alternative to platinum.
It has a natural white colour that requires no rhodium plating and is significantly stronger and lighter than platinum. It’s also incredibly easy to work with as we can make the metal much thinner than other metals.
Are palladium wedding bands man-friendly?
One of the things guys really seem to like about palladium is that it is as strong as platinum but weighs less. So they don’t have to wear a chunky and awkward ring that might get in the way of activities like playing sports or working outside.
It’s also incredibly simple to clean. You can just wash it in warm, soapy water and never needs a polish. And as the ad says, wait there’s more! Palladium is also scratch-resistant and isn’t affected by any tarnishing or corrosion.
What about allergies?
If you’re one of those unlucky people who suffers from allergies, you’ll also be pleased to hear that palladium is a hypoallergenic, due to its purity.
So gentlemen, if you are looking for an eye-catching, comfortable and durable wedding band that’s also affordable – so you can spend more on the honeymoon suite – palladium would make a wonderful companion for your ring finger over the happy years ahead together.
